In Novosibirsk, two fraudsters tricked a pensioner out of 1 million rubles. This was announced on August 16 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

"On the street, the victim, born in 1932, met a woman born in 1975. She introduced herself as a healer and said she could help if something was bothering her grandmother," the department's Telegram channel says.

The pensioner complained of pain in her legs. At that moment, another fraudster approached them, who called herself a grateful client and guaranteed the healing effect. Believing them, the pensioner invited them home, according to the Interior Ministry in the region.

The agency clarified that the scammers convinced her to give all the money for the "conspiracy", promising to put it under her pillow for three days. In the pensioner's absence, the money was replaced by a newspaper. The pensioner's daughter discovered the deception, and then contacted the police.

The Interior Ministry officers identified the accomplices and detained them. A criminal case has been opened under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").

A source from Izvestia reported on August 15 that in St. Petersburg, from August 12 to August 13, fraudsters lured more than 4 million rubles from several local residents. It was clarified that the victims were mostly retired blockade runners. One of the victims was intimidated with fictitious criminal liability for aiding terrorism, after which the woman handed over 401,000 rubles to the couriers.
