US President Donald Trump showed his affection for Russian President Vladimir Putin by sharing a car ride with him from Anchorage Airport. Inna Litvinenko, a political scientist and member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia about this on August 16.

"Trump sits down and invites Putin into his limo. <...> According to protocol, <...> every president gets to the meeting place <...> in his own car, but Trump wanted to emphasize his hospitality," Litvinenko shared.

The head of the White House demonstrates a clear interest and positive attitude towards Putin, the political scientist noted. According to her, Trump's greeting serves as a signal to the American public and the whole world about the United States' interest in this dialogue.

According to the political scientist, Trump has prepared some surprises to attract the attention of both the journalists present and the global audience. However, realizing that emotional or provocative actions against Putin are counterproductive, he is likely to strive for a stable and constructive discussion of all relevant issues.

In 2017, Putin offered Trump a ride in his armored limousine. This trip of the two leaders aroused considerable interest and discussion at that time.

In the same year, the head of the White House also shared trips in the same car with representatives of other countries: French President Emmanuel Macron and former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The three-on-three talks between Putin and Trump began in Anchorage at 11:30 local time (22:30 Moscow time). In addition to the Russian leader, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov attended the meeting.

The Russian president's flight landed at Anchorage Airport earlier in the day. At the meeting on the airfield, the heads of state shook hands and exchanged a couple of remarks, after which they proceeded to the meeting place in Trump's car. Later, the presidents began negotiations.
