Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, at a meeting with Israeli Ambassador Simone Halperin, expressed Russia's serious concern about the state's intention to carry out a complete occupation of the Gaza Strip. The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the ministry on August 15.

"In this context, the Russian side expressed serious concern about Israel's intention to carry out a complete occupation of the enclave. The unacceptability of a policy that perpetuates new realities on earth and is fraught with further aggravation of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone was emphasized," the document says.

It is noted that Moscow supports the settlement of the Middle East conflict based on the decisions of the United Nations and its Security Council. In addition, the conflict in Ukraine and a number of bilateral issues between the states were discussed at the meeting.

Prior to that, on August 4, the Ynet portal reported on Israel's preparation of a plan for the complete occupation of the Gaza Strip. It was clarified that the Israeli leadership intends to switch to active combat operations throughout the enclave. At the same time, the government noted that the army's actions will be conducted even in areas where hostages are being held.
