The number of murders, robberies and apartment thefts in Yakutia has decreased significantly over the past seven months, and the region is becoming safer. This was stated by Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev on August 15 at a meeting with the head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev.

During a working trip to Yakutia, Kolokoltsev reported on equipping the Interior Ministry units of the region with modern technology. A sports hall and a shooting range have been set up on the basis of the Vocational Training Center to practice police shooting skills.

Kolokoltsev noted that employees of the internal affairs bodies receive additional payments. The complex of these measures, according to him, helps to increase work efficiency. The almost one hundred percent detection rate of serious crimes confirms this thesis.

During the visit, the Minister held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), listened to reports and gave instructions. Kolokoltsev also visited the department's Public Services Center, which was opened last year and houses migration and traffic police units, and toured the museum of the regional State Traffic Inspectorate.

On March 5, Kolokoltsev said at an expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the number of repeat crimes in Russia in 2024 had decreased by 17%. He noted that the number of murders decreased by 10%, thefts — by 13%, cases of intentional infliction of serious harm to health — by 8%, robberies — by 16%, and robberies — by 20%.
