A criminal case has been opened on the fact of an emergency in the Ryazan region.

Investigators have opened a criminal case into the incident at an enterprise in the village of Lesnoy in the Shilovsky district of the Ryazan region. This was reported on August 15 in the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence")," the publication says in the Telegram channel.

It is specified that during the daytime, a fire broke out in one of the workshops of the enterprise, as a result of which people were killed and injured.

According to the press service, the investigation will check the level of industrial safety of hazardous production facilities at the enterprise.

An emergency at a factory in the Shilovsky district occurred earlier that day. Later, they created a headquarters for the elimination of consequences. All the injured were sent to the district hospital. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, there is no threat to the residential sector.

Later it was reported that the number of victims of the explosion at the Elastik plant in the Ryazan region increased to 70 people. Five of the injured are in serious condition.
