The Moscow Prosecutor's office intends to recover almost 900 million rubles from the droppers.

At the beginning of the year, the Moscow Prosecutor's office filed more than 1.3 thousand lawsuits in the courts in the interests of persons who were victims of telephone scams, and it is planned to recover about 900 million rubles from the droppers. This was announced on August 13 in the press service of the department.

"1,222 lawsuits totaling 869.5 million rubles for the recovery of unjustified enrichment from "droppers" (persons whose accounts received fraudulently stolen funds)," the Telegram channel of the Moscow prosecutor's office says.

Another 126 lawsuits for almost 163 million rubles were sent to challenge apartment sales or loan agreements concluded by residents of the city under the influence of deception.

Moscow Prosecutor Maxim Zhuk demanded to identify the fraudsters, as well as not to weaken the work on recognizing loan agreements and other transactions as invalid.

On July 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that criminalizes droppers with up to six years in prison. It was clarified that changes are being made to art. 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal turnover of funds of payments"). A penalty of up to six years in prison with a possible fine of 100,000 to 500,000 rubles is provided for the purchase or transfer of a bank card by persons who are not customers of the bank. In addition, they are fined from 300 thousand to 1 million rubles and forced labor for up to four years.
