- The state prosecution has asked blogger Ilya Varlamov for eight years for fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
The state prosecution requested eight years in a general regime penal colony in absentia and a fine of 99 million rubles for blogger Ilya Varlamov (included in the register of foreign agents of the Russian Federation), accused of evading the duties of a foreign agent in the Russian Federation, as well as of publicly spreading fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (RF Armed Forces). This was announced on August 13 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the hall of the Moscow Meshchansky court.
In addition, the court seized the blogger's account in the amount of 5.3 million rubles.
It was established that Varlamov was brought to administrative responsibility twice during the year, but continued to distribute public messages and materials online without indicating that they were created by a person performing the functions of a foreign agent.
In relation to Varlamov, who was put on the interstate wanted list, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen in absentia.
On July 22, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested blogger Yuri Dudya (included in the register of foreign agents of the Russian Federation) in absentia in a case of evading the duties of a foreign agent. He was given a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months from the moment of his extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation or from the moment of his detention in the territory of the Russian Federation.
