Egypt will hold a conference on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip after a ceasefire agreement is reached between the Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel. This was announced on August 13 by Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdel Ata.

"When we reach a ceasefire agreement, we will hold an international conference to discuss the reconstruction of Gaza. We are preparing for the event, which will last two days," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, the key point remains to reach an agreement on a truce. He added that the conference will discuss issues related to the organization of the enclave after the conflict, such as security and post—war governance.

Ata stressed that the conference will also address the issue of financing the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in particular, providing people with temporary housing, medical care, as well as solving water problems.

On the same day, the Hamas press service reported that a delegation from the movement had arrived in Cairo to discuss with the Egyptian side options for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. It was noted that representatives of Hamas, who responded to Egypt's "generous invitation" with their visit, had already begun holding preliminary discussions on the eve of the negotiations themselves.
