The European Union (EU) and Ukraine benefit from the disruption of the summit in Alaska, which will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen told Izvestia about this on August 13.

"Ukraine and Europe, especially Britain, are interested in disrupting the negotiations (between Russia and the United States. Provocations often coincide with key moments: before negotiations, NATO meetings, or requests from [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky for financing," he said.

Rasmussen suggests that Kiev does not want negotiations, and the EU is using it as a weapon in order to weaken Russia. In fact, Europe feels indifference to the people of Ukraine, the expert believes. The ex-lieutenant colonel noted that he would not be surprised if Russia was blamed for potential provocations if they took place.

On July 12, the Russian Defense Ministry did not rule out that the Kiev regime was preparing provocations to disrupt the Russian-American talks to be held in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 15.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, obtained from several sources at once, Ukrainian militants will strike at a hospital or residential area, and Russia will be responsible for what they have done.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
