On August 12, former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter called on Americans to come to Russia to overcome the Russophobia that has been imposed for a long time.

Russian Russians come to Russia, get to know Russians, and talk to Russians. But when you start listening to them, that will be the most important thing: what they have in their hearts, what they believe in. <...> When you succeed, you will see this power of people's diplomacy," Ritter said at a press conference at TASS.

He also noted the upcoming meeting between President of the United States Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska. According to an ex-US intelligence officer, former US President Joe Biden would never have met with Putin.

On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. In turn, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical. He said that the economic interests of the states intersect in the region.

Later, on August 11, Trump expressed hope for a constructive meeting with Putin. According to him, a meeting between the leaders of the two countries is necessary in order to clarify the position of the Russian president on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
