Insurers have revealed the most dangerous age of drivers

Men aged 40-49, as well as Lada car drivers, have become the most dangerous motorists. This was announced on August 12 in a press release from the VSK Insurance House.

According to statistics, about 26 of the perpetrators of accidents are motorists aged 40-49, although previously drivers aged 35-44 were traditionally in the lead. 83% of road accidents were caused by men aged 40-49. At the same time, the number of women responsible for road accidents continues to decrease - in 2025, they accounted for only 17% of CTP claims.

Owners of LADA cars (17% of accidents), Toyota (8%), Hyundai (6%), GAZ (6%), Kia (5.6%), Renault (4.2%), Nissan (4%), Volkswagen (3%), Chevrolet (2.8%) were most often involved in accidents.), Ford (2.5%). The share of Chinese brands in the overall accident rate is still low, insurers say. The leaders among the most popular brands among Russians are Chery (2%), Haval (1.4%) and Geely (1%).

The number of accidents caused by drivers using the corporate fleet (taxi, carsharing, delivery services) increased to 21%. By the end of 2024, this figure was 18%, the VSK noted.

In 2025, the peak of traffic accidents occurred on Friday, accounting for 17% of CTP accidents. There is also an increased danger on the roads on Thursdays (16%) and Mondays (15%).

Why didn't the vast majority of drivers follow this rule to work?

The head of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA), Evgeny Ufimtsev, said on July 29 that Russia was discussing the possibility of introducing an increasing coefficient for the CTP policy for cars over 30 years old. He called this measure an alternative to raising the vehicle tax for older cars. It is assumed that this decision may become an incentive to upgrade the fleet.

Ufimtsev noted that the discussion of the issue related to road safety and the technical condition of the fleet is still of an expert nature. He advised owners of collectible and rare cars who rarely use them to apply for a short-term CTP policy for trips.
