The State Duma proposed to create a tax deduction for school supplies
On August 12, deputies from the New People party Alexei Nechaev, Vladislav Davankov, and Alexander Demin sent an appeal to Finance Minister Anton Siluanov with a proposal to introduce a tax deduction for school supplies for families with children.
The appeal notes that the purchase of school supplies before the school year requires significant funds. Many families, especially those with low incomes, experience financial difficulties because of this.
"The introduction of a tax deduction for the amount of expenses related to the purchase of school supplies could reduce this burden," the appeal says, quoted by RIA Novosti.
It is noted that the tax deduction will cover the purchase of school uniforms, textbooks and stationery. It is intended for families with children aged 7-17 and is designed to reduce the financial burden, especially for the poor, strengthening social justice, the text of the document says.
On July 25, deputies of the State Duma drafted a bill according to which parents of schoolchildren will be paid annually an amount equal to the subsistence minimum before the start of the school year.
