Ex-mayor of Tulun sentenced to five years in prison for abuse of authority

In the Irkutsk region, the ex-mayor of Tulun was sentenced to five years in prison for negligence and abuse of authority. This was announced on August 12 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (IC RF) for Regina.

"He was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code ("Negligence"), Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code ("Abuse of official authority committed by the head of a local government body"), Part 2 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code ("Abuse of official authority committed by the head of a local government body") 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Embezzlement or embezzlement committed by a person using his official position, as well as on a large scale")," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

It is specified that from 2014 to 2023, the current mayor of the city did not take measures to resettle 29 families who lived in an emergency dormitory building.

In addition, in 2020, he illegally provided housing from the state fund to residents of 11 houses recognized as emergency, but not affected by rising groundwater. As a result, other citizens whose housing was affected by the flooding of the territory were not provided with apartments.

In addition, in the period from 2020 to 2022, an official seized ownership of a municipal land plot and caused damage to the city administration in the amount of more than 1 million rubles. Also in 2022, the defendant illegally redistributed the land plot, giving it to his son's ownership.

The court sentenced the man to imprisonment for a period of five years in a general regime colony.
