Trump recalled Russia's victories over Nazi Germany and Napoleon's army
US President Donald Trump noted Russia's victories in many wars, in particular, those led by Adolf Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte. He announced this on Monday, August 11, during his press conference at the White House.
"They (Russians. — Ed.) went through many wars. They defeated Hitler. <...> They defeated Napoleon," Trump said.
According to him, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban confidently stated in a personal conversation that Russia's defeat in the Ukrainian conflict was impossible. In addition, Orban accompanied the answer to the relevant question with such an expression on his face that, as Trump emphasized, he was asked something completely obvious and stupid.
On the same day, Trump expressed hope for a constructive conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin during their meeting, which is scheduled for Friday, August 15.
