The Verkhovna Rada reported on the growth of protest movements in Ukraine
The protest movements that began in connection with the introduction of restrictions on the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) are increasing. On August 12, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Artyom Dmitruk informed Izvestia about this.
"Protest movements are inevitable, they are slowly manifesting themselves, they manifest themselves in Ukraine on a daily basis," he said.
According to him, the protests are currently being joined not only by people who support SAP or NABU, but also by military personnel, the disabled, as well as relatives of the dead and missing.
In addition, he added that attempts to eliminate or restore anti-corruption bureaus are a "dead end" for President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Dmytruk noted that at the moment the most important issue is the continuation of the process in Ukraine.
The law on limiting the powers of two anti-corruption agencies of the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) entered into force on July 23. On the same day, the Minister Delegate for European Affairs at the French Foreign Ministry, Benjamin Addad, said that the decision was unprofitable for Kiev, since Ukraine would like to become a member of the European Union in the future. A day earlier, mass protests had begun in connection with its adoption.
