Konstantin Ternovoy, Director of the Rehabilitation Center at Moscow State Medical University named after I. M. Sechenov, orthopedic traumatologist, osteopath, Candidate of Medical Sciences, told how to maintain back health at sedentary work.
In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Monday, August 11, the expert noted that in order to maintain back health and avoid pain after work, it is important to control weight, train muscles and choose a comfortable and high-quality chair.
"A muscular corset, control your weight and don't get hurt. (...) The recipe is simple: if you have strong back muscles, you won't hurt," Ternovoy explained.
The orthopedist advised to get up and walk for 15 minutes every hour during sedentary work, the website writes kp.ru . He noted that regular swimming twice a week will help compensate for a sedentary lifestyle, but it is important to monitor weight and the ratio of fat to muscle. According to him, overeating and lack of exercise lead to obesity and muscle weakness.
The doctor also emphasized the importance of a high-quality chair and bed, notes 360.ru . He added that eight out of ten people experience back pain, and one in five skips work at least once in their lives due to severe pain.
Earlier that day, neurologist Galina Chudinskaya urged people with pinched nerves to avoid movements that increase pain, take painkillers and apply cold for the first one or two days, then dry heat. Light stretches or a comfortable position can alleviate the condition, for example, lying on your back with bent legs for lower back pain, RT reports.
On August 4, cardiologist Gulnara Orlova named healthy habits for an office worker for back and eye health. In particular, according to her, you should get up every 60 minutes to warm up.
Earlier, Vanessa Prinz, a preventologist and health mentor at Health Buddy, warned about the dangers of prolonged immobility during work. According to her, in a sitting position, blood flow is disrupted, which can lead to stagnation of lymph and swelling of the legs, even in healthy people. In addition, while sitting, the load on the cardiovascular system increases, NSN notes.
