Lavrov discussed with the Armenian Foreign Minister the details of Pashinyan's contacts with Trump and Aliyev

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, during which the details of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's contacts with the Presidents of the United States and Azerbaijan, Donald Trump and Ilham Aliyev, were discussed. This was reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on August 11.

It is specified that the negotiations took place on the initiative of Yerevan.

"The Head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry informed about the details of the contacts between Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the Presidents of the United States. Trump and Azerbaijan's I. G. Aliyev," the publication says.

It is noted that Lavrov, in turn, stressed the importance of achieving sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in line with the trilateral agreements at the highest level, which were reached in 2020-2022 with the key role of Russia.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow expressed its readiness to contribute to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the future. In addition, Lavrov and Mirzoyan discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda.

Earlier in the day, Pashinyan phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Armenian Prime Minister informed the Russian leader about the results of the meeting with Trump and Aliyev.

Later, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Armenia for the first time published the text of the initialed peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku, consisting of 17 paragraphs. According to the text of the document, the parties agreed to recognize and respect each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders and political independence.
