An updated Inter-District Rheumatology Center was opened in Moscow at the N.I. Pirogov State Clinical Hospital No. 1. It is located in the reconstructed building No. 12, built in 1924. The opening ceremony was attended by the Mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

"Now historical walls are side by side with advanced technologies," Sobyanin wrote on his Telegram channel. He noted that the area of the center has increased 2.5 times after the reconstruction.

According to the mayor of Moscow, the center will become one of the key links in the new standard of care for rheumatological diseases. Doctors treat such patients for life from the moment of diagnosis, Sobyanin noted.

The center has 30 hospital beds, equipped with rooms for genetic engineering biological therapy, and a consulting and diagnostic department, Sobyanin said. Almost 90 pieces of equipment and furniture were purchased, including an X-ray diagnostic device and a densitometer. Also, during the reconstruction, special attention was paid to creating a barrier-free environment.

This is the third inter-district rheumatology center in Moscow. Two more operate on the basis of MKNIC Hospital 52 and MKNC named after A.S. Loginov. More than 57.5 thousand patients are attached to the centers.

Earlier, Sobyanin spoke about plans to complete the modernization of two buildings of the Veresaev State Clinical Hospital, the largest hospital in the north of the capital, by the end of 2025. A maternity hospital and a women's health center will be opened in the renovated buildings.
