Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree prohibiting the purchase of foreign-made military uniforms for military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from 2026. The relevant decree was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on August 11.
According to the document, the head of state instructed the government, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation to take measures that provide for the supply of "military equipment manufactured by Russian organizations" for the needs of the army from January 1, 2026. Their production facilities should be located in Russia.
It is specified that by 2027, the fabrics used to create the uniforms of the Russian military should also be produced in the territory of the Russian Federation. The decree comes into force from the date of its signing.
On July 11, Putin signed a decree on amendments to the procedure for wearing military uniforms. According to the decree, for senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Rosgvardiya, trousers with edging and stripes of the established colors are now included in the short- and long-sleeve uniforms. In addition, a combat shirt in camouflage colors has been added to the military's field uniform set. It is also provided for cadets and military personnel serving in educational organizations.
