Shor called on Moldovans to take an indefinite action against the policy of the authorities

Ilan Shor, the head of the Pobeda opposition bloc, on Monday, August 11, appealed to Moldovans to come out on August 16 for an indefinite rally against the actions of the authorities.

"I urge everyone to go out to the Grand National Assembly Square on Saturday and spend as much time there as necessary to sweep out this yellow mold (yellow is the color of the symbols of Moldovan President Maia Sandu's Action and Solidarity party. — Ed.)," he said in a video message posted on the Telegram channel.

According to Shor, many residents of the country are dissatisfied with the policy of the authorities, especially they do not like "overpaying for gas and electricity at times."

The politician also spoke about intimidation by the authorities and stressed that the people are being shown the outcome that awaits them after confronting the authorities. As a vivid example, he cited the head of the Gagauz Autonomy, Yevgenia Hutsul, who was arrested.

Earlier, on August 5, Hutsul was sentenced to seven years in prison in the case of allegedly financing the Shor party. She expressed great support from the people of the autonomy and urged "not to give up." The People's Assembly of Gagauzia ruled out the intention to recognize the verdict.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, called on international structures to assess this verdict. Later, on August 10, Vadim Fotescu, a member of the Moldovan parliamentary group Pobeda, called the verdict illegal and politically motivated.
