On August 11, Sergey Rybalchenko, Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on demography, protection of family, children and traditional family values, proposed raising the legal age for alcohol sales to 21.

"The age limit for alcohol consumption should be considered. Today, most 11th graders are already adults and can purchase alcohol. This means that their underage peers also fall into the sphere of this influence," the TASS news agency quoted the official as saying.

It is noted that the OP of the Russian Federation proposed to introduce restrictions in stages.

Earlier, on July 3, a bill was submitted to the State Duma banning the sale of alcohol to persons under the age of 21. The author of the bill is Senator Marina Sidukhina.
