In the State Duma (State Duma) A bill is being considered, according to which obesity will be included in the list of socially significant diseases. This was stated on August 11 in the resolution following the results of the round table on the topic of obesity in Russia.

"To send to the government of the Russian Federation a proposal to include obesity in the List of socially significant diseases," the TASS news agency quoted the document.

Among other measures, State Duma deputies recommended that the Ministry of Health establish follow-up for patients diagnosed with obesity. In addition, it was proposed to create an interdepartmental working group to develop a healthier menu for school buffets.

According to the resolution, obesity is the cause of the development of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, cancer, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, reproductive disorders and other diseases.

Earlier, on July 9, oncourologist at SM Clinic Debo Bedene said that obesity directly affects the formation of cancerous tumors. According to him, over the past 10 years, the proportion of cancer diseases associated with obesity has increased significantly. Oncologists observe a clear connection: the higher the patient's body mass index, the higher the risk of malignant degeneration in the tissues of organs.
