In Turkey, one person was killed and 29 others were injured due to an earthquake in Balikesir province. This was stated on August 10 by the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic Ali Yerlikaya during a press release published on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
"An 81-year—old citizen died as a result of the earthquake, 29 people were injured," he told reporters.
Earlier in the day, an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred in the western part of Turkey. The epicenter of the tremors was in Balikesir province at a depth of 11 km. It was clarified that the earthquake was felt for about 20-30 seconds in at least 10 districts in the west of the country. Now some of them have problems with mobile communication.
According to preliminary data, as a result of a natural disaster, one building collapsed, 24 more were injured. After the earthquake, 20 aftershocks of up to five magnitude occurred in western Turkey.
