At least 13 people were killed, six schools and two medical centers burned down as a result of fires in the city of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This was reported on August 10 by the Actualité portal with reference to the city authorities.

The spread of the fire was facilitated by strong wind gusts on Tuesday evening, some of them reaching 60 km/h, as well as dryness on the ground and humidity levels of less than 25%.
On August 7, BFMTV reported that a large fire in France had engulfed more than 16,000 hectares of vegetation in the Aude region in 24 hours. It was clarified that at least one person was killed as a result. The fire was later contained.
