A massive closure of women's beauty salons has begun in Kabul. This was reported on August 10 in the Tolo News Telegram channel.

"The Taliban closed hundreds of women's hairdressers <...> Witnesses claim that the Taliban searched houses, identified hairdressers and destroyed or confiscated their equipment," the publication says.

It is noted that these measures have dealt a serious blow to the economic situation of women working in this sector. Critics also view the move as part of the Taliban's policy of gradually ousting women from the social and economic spheres.

Earlier, on July 13, The Washington Post reported that the food and health crisis in Afghanistan had worsened as a result of the reduction in US aid. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the suspension of U.S. aid has led to the closure of more than 420 medical facilities, affecting more than 3 million people.
