The State Duma proposed to discuss the abolition of homework for schoolchildren
On August 9, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin proposed discussing the abolition of homework for schoolchildren, citing the excessive burden on students.
"The majority of State Duma deputies believe that schoolchildren are overloaded. On average, they spend 8-10 hours a day studying," Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel.
At the same time, Volodin noted that artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the search for ready-made answers on the Internet make homework often meaningless. The politician stressed that homework can be more productive if it is exploratory and creative, contributing to the development of critical thinking in children.
According to Volodin, despite the recognition of the problem, concrete proposals for its solution have not yet been developed. He promised that the deputies would return to discussing the issue of homework next month.
