At least 13 people died due to flooding in the north-west of China
The number of flood victims in Gansu Province in the northwest of the People's Republic of China (PRC) has increased to 13. This was reported by the Xinhua news Agency on August 9.
"As a result of the flash flooding in Yuzhong, Gansu province, 13 people were killed," the report said.
China Central Television (CCTV) added that the organizational department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has allocated 32 million yuan to the provinces of Gansu and Guangxi to support flood control and disaster relief efforts.
The Reuters news agency reported on July 31 that extreme weather conditions claimed the lives of at least 60 people in northern China. The Ming Pao newspaper noted on July 29 that a total of 80,000 people had been evacuated in Beijing due to heavy rains. It was clarified that 16 thousand people were evacuated from the Miyun district, about 10 thousand from the Huairou district and more than 9 thousand from the Fangshan district.
On August 4, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) of China noted that due to the expectation of heavy precipitation, the Beijing authorities imposed the highest level of danger in five districts of the city.
