The Bank of Russia does not see any systemic risks in the introduction of a temporary four-day working week at a number of enterprises. This opinion was expressed on August 8 by Alexey Zabotkin, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank.

"We do not see any systemic risks, this phenomenon is temporary, previously there were also episodes of short—term introduction by some enterprises of a four-day working regime, after which they returned to the standard schedule," Zabotkin said, answering a question from users in a chat with the regulator on the Telegram channel.

According to him, this measure is associated with a decrease in demand for the products of some companies after increased demand in the last two years. In addition, the deputy chairman of the Central Bank stressed that the Bank of Russia analyzes the capacity load of enterprises.

"According to the latest statistics, the workload in the manufacturing industry as a whole is at a normal level," Zabotkin added.

On July 22, AvtoVAZ announced that in early autumn the company would consider changing the schedule of its production sites from September 29 and switching to a four-day working week.

Later, on July 25, Gorky Automobile Plant announced the transition to a four-day working week due to the decline in the commercial vehicle market.
