The expert explained the summer reduction in the cost of holidays in Turkey
Buying a ticket to Turkey "at the last moment" this summer in many cases turned out to be more profitable than in winter or spring for early booking promotions. This was announced to journalists on August 8 by Vladimir Rubtsov, CEO of the Fun&Sun tour operator.
According to the expert, the reasons for the fall in prices at the height of the season are as follows: first of all, it is the depreciation of the dollar (from 90 rubles in March to 78 rubles in July), as well as the cold weather in Russia in May and June.
"The good exchange rate of the ruble against the euro and the dollar contributed to the good demand for tours to Turkey this summer. The impact of this factor on excellent sales in the regions was especially noticeable. The second factor that boosted Turkey's sales in May and June was the bad weather in the European part of Russia. People look at what's going on outside their window and think, why not go to the sea and the sun," Rubtsov explained.
Another factor that led to the drop in prices is the Iran-Israel conflict. Due to flight restrictions, many Europeans refused to visit the Middle East and Turkey, among others. As a result, when the Turkish hoteliers saw the shortage of rooms, they decided, thanks to special offers and promotions, to "sell" their containers in the markets from where they come.
As a result, according to Rubtsov, the traditional annual price increases by Turkish hoteliers in foreign currency this summer were partially offset by the strengthening of the ruble, and discounts and promotions even led to lower ruble prices for vacations.
Speaking about the general demand for holidays in Turkey among Russians, the head of the tour operator assured that Turkey accounts for 56% of all summer sales in his company (+25% compared to last year), and, for example, "August has already sold out by more than 80%."
The velvet season also shows good booking dynamics: the load on board for September-October is already about 50%. And if "nothing global happens," by the fall these figures will be noticeably higher, Rubtsov is sure.
On July 30, it was reported that the cost of travel to friendly countries may decrease in Russia. The reason for the favorable forecast is the new law on benefits for tour operators, which will enter into force on September 1.
