Macron discusses ceasefire in Ukraine with Zelensky and European leaders

On August 7, French President Emmanuel Macron, after a dialogue with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and other European leaders, said that the country supports the ceasefire agreement as a result of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia..

"I had a long conversation with President Zelensky, as well as with several European leaders who have been following the events of recent hours. I have reiterated <...> France's full support for the ceasefire agreement," he wrote on the social network X.

Macron noted that he also supports the intention to start negotiations that will contribute to the security of Europe, and in particular, Ukraine.

Earlier, on August 6, US President Donald Trump expressed hope for an early meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Trump also added that there are prospects for an early end to the conflict in Ukraine, and great progress has been made following talks between Putin and US Special Envoy Steven Witkoff.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Trump intends to personally meet with Putin next week. It is noted that, according to the plan of the American president, after the meeting of the two leaders, trilateral talks will be held between Trump, Putin and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
