Russia and Belarus held consultations on information security, taking into account AI
Russia and Belarus held consultations on ensuring information security, taking into account the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This was announced on August 7 by the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
"On August 6, 2025, the next round of Russian-Belarusian interdepartmental consultations on information security issues took place in Moscow. Taking into account the development of artificial intelligence technologies, further steps were agreed on to comprehensively ensure the safety of citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus," the Security Council said in a statement on its website.
The delegation was headed by Oleg Khramov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and Alexander Neverovsky, Deputy Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus. During the meeting, the parties discussed practical issues of organizing further bilateral cooperation in countering threats to the security of critical information infrastructure facilities, combating computer crime, as well as cooperation in this regard within the framework of relevant international organizations.
In addition, joint events were planned with the participation of government agencies and organizations of Russia and Belarus in order to counter challenges and threats to the Union State in the information sphere.
On June 9, it was reported that the Russian government would create an AI Development Center in order to systematize the introduction of technologies in the territory of the state. It was clarified that one of the tasks of the center will be to replicate the best practices that exist in Russia. "Best practices" refers to solutions that have become not only effective, but also safe.
