A criminal case has been opened in St. Petersburg after the death of a pedestrian in an accident in the city of Krasnoe Selo. This was announced on August 7 by the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
"The police investigation has opened a criminal case on the fact of the accident under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles." — Ed.)," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel.
According to the agency, the 35-year-old driver lost control while driving a Kia Rio carsharing car and ran into a bus stop on Lenin Avenue, where there were two women. The driver has already been detained and taken to the police station.
The accident became known earlier that day. The Izvestia source clarified that one woman was killed and another was hospitalized with a broken leg. The carsharing driver was drunk at the wheel and tried to escape from the scene, he also had a broken leg.
