In Kamchatka, Klyuchevskaya volcano was assigned an aviation hazard red code.
In the Kamchatka Territory, Klyuchevskaya volcano was assigned an aviation hazard red code. This was announced on August 7 by the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group (KVERT) on the official website.
"Volcano: Klyuchevskoy. <...> The current color code for aviation is red. The previous color code for aviation is orange," the message says.
It is noted that the explosive eruption of the volcano continues at the top. KVERT satellite data showed that ash emissions reached an altitude of 9.5 km above sea level, and the ash plume extends 141 km southeast of the volcano.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Klyuchevskaya volcano made an ash release to a height of up to 10 km. The plume spreads in a northeasterly direction from the volcano towards the Bering Sea. The settlements of Ust—Kamchatsk and Krutoberegovo are on the path of the spread of the ash plume.
