Fraudsters began to create phishing resources on the Internet to steal personal data of Russians, imitating the websites of city morgues. On August 6, the Department for organizing the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia warned about this.

It is noted that the court in St. Petersburg last week banned the operation of two similar resources.

"The sites collected personal data of citizens (full name, phone numbers, email) through false application forms, misleading users about the ownership of resources," the department's Telegram channel, Bulletin of the Cyber Police of the Russian Federation, said.

Law enforcement officers added that scammers can create such resources repeatedly, so it's best not to respond to "urgent requests" from personal ones. Phishing sites intentionally create a false sense of urgency.

"Remember: attackers can easily fake the design. Always double—check the organization's contacts through official sources before entering any personal data," the police explained.

On the same day, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, said that after transferring personal data to fraudsters, a person has one "golden hour" to minimize the consequences of what happened. She noted that if the transfer of data, for example, a bank card, still occurred, the user needs to change the password, access code to the banking service, and then freeze the card and accounts.
