- Ushakov: The Kremlin will talk about the negotiations when Witkoff reports on them to Trump
The Kremlin will be able to give a more detailed comment on the results of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special envoy Stephen Witkoff after he reports on the meeting to American leader Donald Trump. This was announced to journalists on August 6 by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
According to him, at the moment Putin has full information about the meeting, as well as about the signals from the US president. However, as Ushakov noted, the results of this meeting have not yet been reported to Trump.
"I would refrain from making more detailed comments. Let's see when Witkoff will be able to report on the conversation that took place today to Trump. After that, obviously, we will be able to supplement my comments with something else more significantly," Ushakov said.
Witkoff arrived in Moscow on the morning of August 6. During his visit to Moscow, Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. Their meeting lasted about three hours. Ushakov was also present at it.
Following the meeting, the Russian presidential aide said that Witkoff and Putin discussed the conflict in Ukraine and the prospects for possible development of Russian-American strategic cooperation. According to him, Russia has sent some signals, in particular, on the Ukrainian issue, and received corresponding signals from Trump.
