- Hezbollah rejected the Lebanese government's decision to seize weapons from the movement.
The Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah has rejected the government's decision to seize weapons from its troops. This was reported on August 6 by Al Jazeera TV channel with reference to the movement's statement.
"We will treat this decision as if it does not exist. <...> The decision undermines Lebanon's sovereignty and frees Israel's hands, allowing it to destroy its security, geography, politics and future existence," Hezbollah quoted the TV channel as saying.
The movement stressed that the relevant decision was dictated by the United States and serves only the interests of Israel.
At the same time, Hezbollah expressed its readiness to discuss a defense strategy to "stop Israeli aggression," free the land and prisoners, and build a Lebanese state without attacks from Tel Aviv. According to the statement, Israel must first comply with the ceasefire agreement.
Earlier, on August 5, the head of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, stressed that the movement would not conclude new agreements with Israel until the authorities fulfilled the ceasefire agreements signed on November 27 last year. According to him, if the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continues to expand hostilities against Lebanon, "rockets will fly towards Jerusalem."
