UAZ will not postpone production of Hunter SUVs

Hunter SUVs will continue to be produced only at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. This was reported to Izvestia on August 6 by the UAZ press service.

"The full production cycle of the UAZ Hunter model will continue to be carried out only at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. The Vehicle Type Approval (OTT) issued to the Avtodom partner company applies only to special versions of the vehicle. We are talking about snowmobiles, service vehicles for maintenance of communications in remote areas, as well as small series equipped according to individual customer requirements," the company said.

They clarified that the SUVs, which will later be converted into special versions, as before, will be produced directly at UAZ itself and transferred to Avtodom's partner company, which, after appropriate refinement of these vehicles, will put its own VIN number on them.

The day before, the Avtopotok Telegram channel reported that, according to the new OTS, UAZ Hunter cars would allegedly be produced at two sites at once — at UAZ itself and Avtodom's production facilities.

On August 4, it became known that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant currently does not test versions of cars with automatic transmission. The company said that the main focus of the test program is now on diesel versions with a six-speed manual transmission.
