A man drowned while swimming in the Gulf of Finland in the Resort area of St. Petersburg. They pulled him out of the water onto the shore, but they couldn't pump him out. This was announced on August 5 by a source of Izvestia.

The incident occurred on Monday evening, August 4, in Sestroretsk, on the beach of one of the sanatoriums. According to the source, the man went swimming while drunk.

According to an eyewitness of the events, the drowned man underwent intensive care on the beach for an hour.

"Several people provided assistance, as I understood it, visitors to the beach. Then the lifeguard came over. Later, about 30 minutes later, an ambulance arrived, along with several employees. They immediately put on an artificial respiration machine and gave injections. Then they carried him to the car," said an eyewitness.

Earlier, on August 4, a man drowned in a pond in the village of Maly Zhaigil in the Seltinsky district of Udmurtia. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations urged Russians not to swim in unfamiliar places and not to enter the water in a drunken state.
