A group of 35 United Nations special Rapporteurs and experts, led by Francesca Albanese, Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, called for an arms embargo on Israel. This was confirmed on August 5 by a statement issued by the UN press service.

Among other things, they called for the dissolution of the Humanitarian Aid Fund for Gaza (GHF). According to the group, the organization is an extremely disturbing example of the use of humanitarian aid for hidden military and geopolitical purposes. It is noted that Israeli troops continue to attack people who are looking for help.

"By calling it humanitarian aid, Israel continues its humanitarian disguise and insults humanitarian activities and standards," TASS quoted experts as saying.

According to a publication on the UN website, almost 1,400 Palestinians died while trying to get food supplies in Gaza.

Earlier, on August 4, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported an increase to 180 people in the total number of deaths from starvation amid the blockade of the Gaza Strip. It was noted that 93 children were among the indicated number of victims. Later, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Flker Turk, said that Israel's refusal to provide the citizens of the Gaza Strip with access to food could be qualified as a crime against humanity.
