Trump named a condition for meeting with Xi Jinping
US President Donald Trump is ready to initiate a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping by the end of this year, subject to the conclusion of a trade deal between the two countries. This was announced by the American president on August 5.
"We are very close to a deal. We get along well with China," he said in an interview with CNBC.
According to Trump, the American and Chinese sides are able to conclude a "good deal." At the same time, he clarified that if an agreement is not concluded, then it makes no sense for the countries to meet in the future.
Earlier, on July 21, it was reported that the meeting of American leader Donald Trump and Xi Jinping in South Korea is likely to take place before the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit or during the event. It is noted that the APEC summit may be the "best opportunity" for the leaders of the countries to meet.
Later, on July 22, Trump announced that Xi Jinping had invited him to China. According to the American leader, he will visit China "in the near future." He promised to make an appropriate decision in the near future. The next day, the American leader said that the United States and China were close to concluding a trade agreement.
