To save money on dental treatment, people buy cheap fillings from marketplaces, but this can lead to negative consequences for the human smile. About this on August 4, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by dentist, maxillofacial surgeon Veronika Melekhova.

According to the dentist, during the delivery of the filling, doctors remove caries and treat its complications, sometimes restoring the shape of the tooth with a filling. All this is done in sterile conditions, not to mention the constant disinfection of the treatment site. When a person tries to put a seal on himself, he does not pay attention either to the tooth disease or to proper disinfection. In this regard, the tooth will continue to deteriorate, and further treatment will cost the potential patient more.

"We sealed such a tooth with a filling from the marketplace, there is less oxygen, toothpaste, and a mineral complex from saliva. Bacteria feel great there, they create an even more acidic environment for themselves due to the products of their vital activity and begin to multiply even more actively," Melekhova noted.

The doctor emphasized that the function of an allegedly healed tooth may suffer under a cheap filling.

"When a tooth hurts, <...> the nerve is already involved in the process, and, accordingly, it is necessary not just to put a seal, but to do more complex work, that is, to clean the channels, seal them, and only after that to restore the tooth, but not with a filling, but to prepare it for a crown. Plus, hygiene will suffer, because such a filling will have some kind of undercuts, food will get there and also help our bacteria develop and accelerate the process of caries development," the expert shared.
