Employees of the Moscow City Fire and Rescue conducted preventive raids on the beaches of the Moscow region, reminding residents of the safety rules at the water. This was reported in the press service of the department on Monday, August 4.

Deputy Head of the service Sergey Shchetinin noted that many tragedies occur in unequipped bathing areas, where dangerous objects can be hidden at the bottom — driftwood, glass, metal debris. He also warned that swimming under the influence of alcohol seriously increases the risk of injury and drowning due to loss of control and slow reactions, Radio 1 notes.

"There are a lot of hidden dangers underwater that you and I don't know about, so in no case should we succumb to the external calmness of the water. We assume in advance that it is dangerous. We swim only where it is allowed," RT quotes Shchetinin as saying.

The specialist reminded that diving into the water on beaches where there is no sign saying "Swimming is allowed" is prohibited. 360.ru .

In addition, experts recommended not to go into the water if you feel unwell, very tired or overheated — this can lead to cramps and heat stroke. For a safe rest, rescuers advise taking water, a hat, sunglasses and cream with you. At the end of the raid, the vacationers were given memos with rules of safe behavior.

Earlier, Honored Rescuer of Russia Igor Tomchuk called on Russians to closely monitor children by the water, writes NSN. Many tragedies with children on the water are the fault of parents — it is impossible to leave a child unattended even for a second, he stressed.

On July 25, it was reported that 867 people, including 146 children, had died in Russian reservoirs since the beginning of summer 2025. Since the beginning of the bathing season, employees of the State Inspectorate for small vessels of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have rescued 310 people, including 76 children.

In Moscow, more than 500 employees of the search and rescue service ensure safety on the water. They work at 25 rescue stations and one fire and rescue station, monitoring the waters of the Moskva River and other bodies of water, Regnum news agency notes.
