Russians actively complain about the imposed credit card insurance
Russians report the imposition of insurance services when issuing credit cards by the country's largest banks. This is evidenced by numerous requests to the "People's Rating" section on the "Banki.ru" portal, which was analyzed by Izvestia.
The Central Bank confirms the existence of such cases, but does not consider the problem to be widespread. As specified in the press service of the regulator, violations were identified by individual banks, with which individual work is being conducted. Some of the claims have already been settled.
Most often, life, health, and job loss insurance policies are connected with the cards. Customers are also offered fraud insurance and purchase protection. Sometimes comprehensive programs are designed that combine several risks at once.
Experts attribute the growth of imposed services to the deterioration of the credit card economy for banks. According to economist Andrey Barkhota, against the background of a high key interest rate (21% for six months) and expensive deposits (up to 15% per annum), banks are losing profitability and are trying to compensate for losses through additional services.
