The Alaid fish processing plant in Paramushir in the North Kuril region of the Sakhalin Region lost all its equipment due to the tsunami. This was announced on August 3 by its CEO Anton Kovalev.

"The seine sewing workshop has completely deteriorated, the base plate has been washed away there. A carpentry shop and a fuel storage building were destroyed. All the equipment, cars, cranes, were drowned," he said in an interview with RBC.

According to him, the water also ruptured the cold storage chambers, and the products stored in them from 120 tons of salmon and 1 ton of scallop were carried into the ocean. In addition, all electrical equipment has failed, conveyor belts for processing in the red fish workshop have been completely destroyed, partial destruction is observed in the white fish workshop.

Kovalev clarified that much cannot be restored. The press service of the administration of the North Kuril region, in turn, noted that the amount of damage will be determined based on the results of the examination.

At the same time, according to him, the electricity supply damaged as a result of the natural disaster was restored throughout the region.
