United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that UN reports are "rarely read" and they have generally become longer than before.

"Three of the five reports under review contain recurring themes, and I have to admit that they are also getting longer. The number of words in them exceeds the reports of twenty years ago by 40%. However, many of these reports are rarely read," Guterres said at a briefing on the organization's reform on August 1.

According to the Secretary General, only 5% of reports become popular, and they are downloaded more than 5,000 times.

"Every fifth report gets less than a thousand downloads. And even if they were uploaded, it doesn't mean that they were read at all," Guterres added.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said on July 10 that Russia was concerned about the increased level of politicization and confrontation in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The Ministry stressed the importance of joint efforts to ensure that human rights become a factor contributing to rapprochement and strengthening mutual respect in international relations.
