A criminal case has been opened in St. Petersburg over the death of a baby. This was announced on August 2 by the press service of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city.

It is noted that in one of the houses on Berezovaya Street in Aviagorodka, St. Petersburg, parents tried to hide the death of a baby. The child's mother and her roommate were detained.

"An investigator of the investigative department for the Moskovsky district of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of St. Petersburg has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence")," the department's Telegram channel says.

At the moment, a set of investigative actions is being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

According to a source in Izvestia, a 44-year-old woman gave birth to a baby at home on June 12. The baby was never shown to doctors and was not registered anywhere. Later, on July 9, a woman found the child dead and told her roommate about it, who burned the body of her newborn son in a barrel in the courtyard of the house.

Earlier, on July 28, the press service of the Moscow prosecutor's office reported that a two-year-old girl had fallen out of an apartment window on the fourth floor on Bekhtereva Street. The child was hospitalized.
