Crews of T-80BVM tanks of the North group of forces destroyed the identified camouflaged positions and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during firing missions in the Sumy region, in the area of a special military operation. This was announced on August 2 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Units of the North group of forces continue to carry out the combat mission to create a security zone along the state border of the Russian Federation. The troops continue to advance daily, pushing the enemy away from the state border to create a "sanitary zone" and ensure the safety of civilians in the Russian border regions.

Tank crews of the North group of forces inflict fire on positions, military equipment and concentrations of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the special operation zone in the Sumy region. The main task of the tankers is to control the supply routes of Ukrainian militants and support the advancing assault and motorized rifle units.

The fire is corrected with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with their own help, hits are recorded on the target. Targets are hit by high-explosive fragmentation munitions. Tanks can operate both with direct fire and from closed firing positions. This allows you to remain unnoticed, and greatly reduces the risk to the crews. After completing the combat mission, the tank unit changes its location in order to prevent artillery return fire or drone attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Basically, the crew's job is to support the infantry, control the supply of ammunition, as well as control the enemy, the movement of his equipment and infantry," said the commander of the T—80BVM tank with the call sign Frank.
