American singer Justin Timberlake told fans on July 31 that doctors had discovered he had an infection with Lyme disease, which people contract through ticks. The 44-year-old singer decided to make a statement at the end of his Forget Tomorrow world tour.

"I had health problems, and I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. I'm not saying this to make you feel sorry for me, but I want to shed light on what I had to face behind the scenes," he wrote on his Instagram page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation, banned).

The singer appealed to fans that if they are familiar with people experiencing the same ailment as him, they should understand how exhausting it is both mentally and physically.

According to the singer, during the tour he went on stage, experiencing severe neuralgia, fatigue or nausea, the HuffPost portal notes. However, Timberlake decided to continue performing and continuing his professional career, despite his illness.

On July 7, Maria Zolotareva, senior lecturer at the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy at RTU MIREA, warned that suburban areas pose a danger to humans due to insects that carry little-known but dangerous diseases. She noted that ticks remain one of the most threatening vectors of infections in Central Russia. Their activity lasts from April to October, and bites can lead to infection with tick-borne encephalitis, borreliosis (Lyme disease) and other infections.
