Tennis player Medvedev failed to reach the fourth round of the Masters in Toronto

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev failed to qualify for the fourth round of the Masters tournament in Toronto, losing to Australian Alexei Popyrin. The meeting took place on August 1 and ended with a score 7:5, 4:6, 4:6.

The match lasted two and a half hours. In the next round, Popyrin will play Denmark's Holger Rune, the ninth racket of the world.

Medvedev ranks 14th in the ranking of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (APR). He has 20 titles to his credit, including winning the 2021 US Open. He also won the ATP Cup and the Davis Cup with the Russian national team.

Popyrin, who ranks 26th in the ranking, previously reached the fourth round of the US Open (2024) and Roland Garros (2025). He has three ATP titles to his credit.

The tournament in Toronto is held on a hard surface and will end on August 7. The prize fund exceeds $9 million.

On July 26, Kazakh tennis player Alexander Bublik became the winner of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) tournament, which was held in Kitzbuhel, Austria, beating the representative from France, Arthur Cazaux. The match ended with the score 6:4, 6:3.
