Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to finalize national projects aimed at ensuring the country's technological leadership by September 1. The corresponding order was published on the Kremlin's website on Thursday, July 31.
"The Government of the Russian Federation: <...> approve action plans to improve the effectiveness of regulatory and legal regulation in the implementation of national projects to ensure technological leadership of the Russian Federation," the document says.
Also, according to the instruction, the projects should include indicators for a comprehensive assessment of the level of technological sovereignty in priority sectors of the economy. In addition, the Government was instructed to approve action plans to improve the effectiveness of regulatory and legal regulation in the areas of implementation of relevant national projects.
At a meeting with German Gref, Chairman of the Board of Sberbank of Russia, on July 29, Putin said that Russia had managed to keep up with competitors and move forward in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. In turn, Gref said that since April 1, a new domestic AI model, GigaChat, has been made publicly available. The head of Sberbank also stressed that Russia has implemented unique payment technologies that have no analogues in the world.
